Jeff Hardy was arrested in June 2022 after his driving car was said to be swerving across the road.
After being pulled over court documents state that Hardy blew 0.294 and 0.291 as part of two breath tests, and the legal limit in Florida (where the incident took place) is 0.08. Hardy was charged with Driving While License Cancelled/Suspended/Revoked, Violation of Restrictions Placed on driver’s License, and DUI Alcohol/Drugs Third Offense within 10 Years.
Following the arrest, the former World Champion was suspended by AEW without pay.
However, on February 23rd, the case against Hardy was closed after he submitted a written plea of nolo contendere to all charges. This is where a defendant agrees to accept punishment but does not accept or deny responsibility for the charges brought against them.
Hardy’s legal representative had filed a motion to suppress his breath test results claiming that the tests were unreliable.
Speaking on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt gave an update on how Jeff was recovering after completing a stint in rehab. Hardy’s comments were recorded before the court case was officially closed.
“I mean, he’s, he’s doing great. And as we record this right now, tomorrow is if I’m not mistaken, yeah, the 23rd. And he, I think he’s going to court hopefully it won’t be continued. I guess we’ll know tomorrow. You know, I’m not sure when this is going to air, but he just wants to get the song behind him. And, you know, they feel like they’re in a pretty good position because he’s like, done all the work necessary. He went to rehab for many, many days. He did outpatient treatment for months. And he is really, he’s really dedicated himself and he’s committed himself to getting better.
And the biggest barometer, my biggest judge of how he’s at is just how happy his wife is about him and where he’s at his life. And yeah, every time I’ve talked to him, he’s been very good, very positive. Actually had a long conversation today about some stuff that myself and Reby were, you know, we’re working on as far as business goes about trying to expand the House Hardy brand and he was definitely on board. He just has to get past this. So, you know, fingers crossed that it happens on the 23rd.
You know, I mean, it’s not like I’m giving away secrets, that’s public information, obviously, but, you know, he just wants to get it all behind them and then try and write his wrongs. You know, he’s just, so to say, you know, can’t really compare these because they’re different things, but you know, he’s just ready to like, pay his penance and like move past it, and like, begin anew.”
Is Jeff Hardy Going Back To AEW?
At the present time, there has been no comment from either Jeff Hardy or AEW about a potential return to the ring.
Speaking on a different episode of his podcast, Matt Hardy revealed that there’s no guarantee his brother will ever return to wrestling.
