Jeff Hardy Clarifies Recent AEW Comments

Jeff Hardy

Less than 24 hours removed from saying he was going to AEW, Jeff Hardy has provided some clarification on his comments.

Jeff Hardy surprised many in a recent interview with Jared Myers when he casually confirmed he was heading to All Elite Wrestling. “The Charismatic Enigma” revealed he was both nervous and excited at joining this still somewhat new promotion, thus sending wrestling fans into a frenzy.

The famed grappler has now seemingly backtracked on what he said, taking to Twitter and stating that “nothing is official”.

Though this could indeed be true and Hardy is simply setting himself a goal, the likelihood is that the former WWE Champion realised his mistake of jumping the gun on the news before it was made official by AEW and Tony Khan.

Released by WWE in December, Jeff Hardy has remained in the wider pro wrestling conversation ever since, having been forced by Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment giant into either going to rehab or being released. This came after a reported rough time had by Hardy at a live event, as well as him missing a series of signing appearances. Knowing his drug test would be negative, Hardy insisted WWE just release him.

Matt Hardy, who signed with AEW in March 2020, has confirmed that his brother is doing fine. They’re currently scheduled for their first match together in three years on 12 March at a Big Time Wrestling event, where they’ll face either The Briscoes or The S.A.T.

Should Jeff Hardy become All Elite, he would become the latest former WWE Superstar to join the company, and overall, their eighth new signing of the year, following the likes of Keith Lee, Brody King, and most recently, Buddy Matthews joining the roster.
