WWE Hall of Famer JBL has high praise for TNA‘s top champion.
On January 16th, WWE and TNA issued a press release announcing that the two companies will be sharing talent when it comes to both television, premium live events, and pay-per-views. The groundbreaking announcement led many fans to wonder which TNA stars might be making appearances in WWE in the immediate future.
Sure enough, at the 2025 Royal Rumble on February 1st, TNA Champion Joe Hendry delighted fans around the world when he made a surprise entrance at number 15. Speaking about Hendry’s appearance on a recent edition of Something to Wrestle, WWE Hall of Famer JBL made the bold claim that Hendry is the biggest star outside the sports entertainment giant. He had this to say:
“It’s a great partnership, and it shows the appeal of Joe Hendry. Joe Hendry is, I’ve said this many times, is the biggest star outside of WWE. There’s some great ones out there. Matt Riddle, Nic Nemeth. Joe Hendry have really built this name for himself. I think it’s just incredible what he’s done.”
JBL Praises The Outcome Of The 2025 Royal Rumble
Elsewhere on the podcast, John Bradshaw Layfield spoke about Jey Uso, who eliminated John Cena to become the winner of the 2025 Royal Rumble. He said:
“I watched the whole show from start to finish, and I thought it was just magnificent. And I mean, magnificent. I was sitting there at the end, I just assumed Cena was going over. I’m one of those guys who doesn’t want to know spoilers. I don’t want to know what’s going to happen on Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, WWE, anything. I just want to be surprised. I want to enjoy the show.
And when Cena took that bump off, and that look on his face with the perfect camera angle with Jey Uso in the background. I said, ‘You got to be kidding me. This is fantastic.’ It was an incredible finish. It was so unexpected.”
