Jay White’s AEW Debut Match Confirmed

Jay White

The Forbidden Door swung open on Wednesday night when Jay White appeared on AEW Dynamite, and now Switchblade’s debut match in the company has been confirmed.

White’s appearance on Dynamite came on the back of defeating AEW stars Jay Lethal and Christopher Daniels in consecutive months on NJPW Strong shows in the US. Switchblade turned up on Dynamite, helping his fellow Bullet Club alumni Adam Cole and The Young Bucks deal with the Best Friends in their ongoing feud.

On Rampage on Friday night Jay White made his first appearance in an AEW ring following The Young Bucks win over Roppongi Vice. Orange Cassidy had accompanied Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero to the ring for the bout and afterward, he took out Brandon Cutler before becoming a reluctant guest at a Superkick Party.

Beretta then entered the ring to help his friend before White made his presence felt, dropping Trent with a Blade Runner. It was announced later on the show that Jay White will compete for the very first time in AEW on next Friday’s Rampage when he goes one-on-one with Beretta.

Jay White has held every major singles title that he is eligible to win in New Japan Pro Wrestling having held the NEVER Openweight Title, the IWGP US Championship, the IWGP Intercontinental Title, and the IWGP Heavyweight Championship throughout his illustrious career.

The New Zealander won the biggest prize in NJPW when he captured the IWGP Heavyweight Title in February 2019 from Hiroshi Tanahashi. Two months later White lost the title inside Madison Square Garden when he lost to Kazuchika Okada at G1 Supercard.
