Jay White Wins IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

Jay White

The world can now “Breath with The Switchblade” as Jay White has successfully overcome Kazuchika Okada to capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Dominion 2022!

At NJPW Dominion 2022, Jay White has lived up to his word and defeated Kazuchika Okada to become the fifth IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

The two men went to war for over half an hour with The Switchblade dominating much of the proceedings. While Okada had bursts of excellence, White kept coming back. Towards the end of the bout, Okada finally took control and was able to hit a short-arm Rainmaker, a Tombstone Piledriver and a Landslide Powerbomb. When White tried to fight out of another Rainmaker, Okada absorbed his blows and stared him down.

However, after a series of reversals, Jay White was finally able to hit the Blade Runner and pin the champion to capture the top gold in NJPW for only the second time in his career – having won the previous iteration of the title back in 2019.

Following White’s victory, Bullet Club joined their leader in the ring to celebrate. White took the mic to mock Hangman Adam Page, who has challenged Okada to a match at the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door supershow on June 26th.

“You want Okada? You can have him, because you ain’t getting this. You dumb cowboy b*tch.”

The victory means that, as well as winning the title, Jay White also has one of the most impressive singles records against Okada in the company at 4-1.

Elsewhere on the show, Jon Moxley’s challenger for the Interim AEW World Championship was decided, the G1 Climax 32 participants were announced, and Zack Sabre Jr. challenged Bryan Danielson to a match at Forbidden Door.
