Jay White To AEW In Some Doubt

‘Switchblade’ Jay White is not expected to sign with All Elite Wrestling according to company commentator, Tony Schiavone.

Over the last few weeks, the New Japan Pro Wrestling star has caused tidal waves of speculation surrounding his future in the industry when he seemed to quit the Japanese promotion following a loss to Kota Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 15. His impassioned promo following the bout certainly pointed to a new beginning for the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

Since then, rumour has been rife about where Jay White will show up with fans touting a surprise entrance for the talent at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble on January 31 or a career with AEW in order to freshen up his character. However, White has already categorically stated that he would not be interested in a move to Stamford and now it would appear that an entry to Jacksonville is also off the table.

Subsequent to the January 13 AEW Dynamite, Tony Schiavone was questioned about the possibility of seeing the talent in the company in the very near future. Unfortunately, one of the voices of the promotion didn’t see it happening:

“I don’t think so. I think he’s pretty much locked into what he’s doing there [in Japan].”

Despite Schiavone’s doubts, Jay White’s NJPW contract expires in February 2021 despite the star announcing that he had signed a seven year contract with Japan’s foremost wrestling promotion. However, it has already been announced that he will appear for the company in March seemingly pointing to the fact that he’s putting his eggs in the same basket they’ve been sitting in since 2015.
