AEW star Jay Lethal debuted new theme music ahead of his TNT Championship match on Wednesday’s post-Full Gear edition of AEW Dynamite.
Lethal debuted for All Elite Wrestling in a surprise move at the Full Gear pay-per-view on November 13th. Introduced by Tony Schiavone, the former two-time Ring Of Honor World Champion immediately announced he was setting his sights on Sammy Guevara and the TNT Championship.
Prior to joining AEW, Jay Lethal had been a part of Ring Of Honor for the past several years. However, that promotion announced recently that they were going on a hiatus after December’s Final Battle and all talent were immediately free to seek bookings elsewhere. As a result of his deal with AEW, Lethal will not be a part of what could be ROH’s final show.
Jay Lethal made his in-ring debut for AEW on Dynamite where he challenged Guevara for his title in the main event. Those with an ear for detail will have noticed that Lethal has new music from what he was introduced with at Full Gear. ‘Stomp and Circumstance’ has been replaced with ‘Lethal Injection’ which still contains the instantly recognisable bars from Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance that Macho Man Randy Savage used for his entrances.
Lethal famously portrayed the Black Machismo character during his time in TNA in an homage to Savage, with his spot-on impersonation of the WWE Hall Of Famer.
Jay Lethal reprised Black Machismo for one night only in 2018 at the All In show which many consider the precursor to AEW. On that night Lethal successfully defended his ROH World Title against Flip Gordon.
On Dynamite Lethal did not find success as Sammy Guevara nailed the GTH to pick up the pinfall victory while former WWE Superstar Tony Nese was again seen watching on from ringside.
