On January 25th, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE that contained horrifying allegations of grooming, abuse, and sex trafficking. The suit is seeking to void a previous NDA and seeks financial damages of an unspecified amount. This is the latest in allegations about McMahon that began back in 2022 when it was reported that the then-Chairman paid $12 million in hush money to four women.
On January 26th, McMahon resigned from all duties with TKO and WWE while continuing to deny the allegations against him. The lawsuit against McMahon is currently on pause at the request of the US Department of Justice.
Now, on October 23rd, a new lawsuit has been filed against Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, WWE, and TKO on behalf of five men who were allegedly abused as children while they worked as “ring boys” for the company. The new lawsuit alleges the Vince & Linda McMahon were aware of employee Mel Phillips sexually abusing young boys and did nothing to stop the abuse from happening. “Vince McMahon Made Sexual Abuse A Hallmark Of WWE’s Culture” – Attorney Ann Callis
In response to the new lawsuit, Janel Grant’s attorney Ann Callis issued the following statement:
“The allegations in the ‘ring boys’ lawsuit against WWE are deeply troubling. Vince McMahon made sexual abuse and human trafficking a hallmark of WWE’s culture for decades. Survivors like Janel Grant and other former WWE employees deserve their day in court. All former WWE employees who experienced sexual abuse and harassment should be allowed to tell the truth by having their nondisclosure agreements waived. Ms. Grant stands by all WWE survivors and believes that Mr. McMahon, WWE, and all involved parties must be held accountable.”
Following the lawsuit being made public, Vince McMahon’s attorney has also issued a statement.
