Jake Roberts has revealed that he has penned a new deal that will see him part of the All Elite Wrestling family for the foreseeable future.
The legendary Jake ‘The Snake’ made his AEW debut in March 2020, confronting Cody Rhodes and promising to bring his own client into the company so he could take a slice of Cody’s pie. The next week Roberts was seen walking to ringside with the debuting Lance Archer. Since then, Roberts has been at Archer’s side as he has competed for the TNT Championship as well as the AEW World Championship during his run in the company.
Now sitting down with fellow WWE Hall OF Famer Diamond Dallas Page, Roberts has discussed his impending future, saying he’s remaining All Elite.
Roberts explained, saying it was his promo with Cody that made him want to stick around:
“It inspired me to stay with AEW. Thanks to Tony Khan, when I originally signed with them, it was for a ten-week deal. I eight weeks, the guy comes along with some papers and is like ‘you need to sign these.’ ‘What for?’ ‘It’s your contract.’ ‘Dude, I only have two weeks left.’ ‘No, you have another year.’ A few weeks ago, I buzz Tony and say, ‘I have four weeks left, what do you want me to do?’ Next thing you know, he starts setting up my stuff and says, ‘You need to sign another piece of paper.’ I sign it again and after I signed it, I found it that is wasn’t for a year, it was for two years. He’s such a wonderful man. He gave me my love for wrestling back. It’s great to be part of it.”
Jake Roberts was a huge star of the late eighties in the WWF when fans loved and loathed Roberts as he did battle with everyone from The Ultimate Warrior to The Undertaker.
Roberts recently spoke about his controversial life during an episode of Dark Side Of The Ring that focussed on his father and fellow wrestler, Grizzly Smith.
