Jake Roberts has revealed he was once a bystander for a brawl between Vince McMahon and Mr Perfect which left the Chairman with an ear “broken in half.”
It’s not often that throughout history that a hotel room belonging to Ric Flair was demolished and he had nothing to do with it, but apparently that was the case here.
During a recent episode of his DDP Snake Pit podcast, with WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page, Jake Roberts recalled being part of a group led by Vince McMahon who broke into Flair’s room. Seemingly intent on causing as much chaos as possible, the beds were pushed apart and a fight began.
“They spread the beds apart and they started shooting on each other,” Roberts began. “[Mr.] Perfect [Curt Hennig] wound up fighting Vince.”
“Vince won’t give up, so Perfect grinds him even more.”
The result was Perfect, and more specifically his Rolex watch, bloodying McMahon’s ear.
“and it just so happened that it was right across Vince’s ear, and about the third time he drove into him, blood shot across the room.”
To top off the carnage, the group, including McMahon, did a number on Flair’s minibar leaving the Nature Boy with a bill for $600. In spectacularly understated fashion, Roberts said that it was “quite the day.”
In closing, Roberts said that when he arrived at the scheduled television taping the next day, the arena was like a ghost town. He added that McMahon didn’t arrive until around 4pm with a “great big thing on his ear,” after it had been “broken in half.”
