During a recent episode of his The Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts acknowledged having some undisclosed issues with Piper but emphasised that, overall, he got along with the late legend. He stated:
I’ve had issues with him, but overall I got along with him.
Roberts suggested that their amicable relationship could be attributed to not pressing the matter too much. Reflecting on the infamous rivalry between Piper and Bad News Brown in 1990, Roberts highlighted the widely held belief that Piper’s refusal to lose to Brown cleanly led to frustrations contributing to his departure from WWE. In the context of Piper’s alleged attitude issues, Roberts asserted that he personally steered clear of backstage drama, stating:
I never was one to play that drama s**t, man. Never was.
Furthermore, Roberts commented on Piper’s reputation for being reluctant to put others over, describing it as “ridiculous” and emphasising the performative nature of wrestling. He expressed:
I heard that he wouldn’t lay down for anybody, which to me is just ridiculous. It is a work, man. If your s**t isn’t good enough to sustain you through doing a job for somebody, your s**t must be pretty damn weak.
