With 2022 nearly coming to a close, it is hard to deny that Dax Harwood has had an excellent year. The 38-year-old has competed in several critically acclaimed matches this year, earning the respect of fellow professionals and fans alike.
Harwood is regularly featured as one-half of FTR with partner Cash Wheeler. On Saturday at Ring of Honor Final Battle, FTR took on The Briscoes in a Double-Dog Collar match. However, it is a recent singles performance which has led to a wrestling legend singling Harwood out for praise.
Jake Roberts Praises Dax Harwood
While speaking on his podcast The Snake Pit, Jake Roberts heaped praise upon Dax Harwood for his performance against Bryan Danielson on the November 30th, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite.
“I think for him and Danielson to go out there and give it all that, these guys are old school. I’m not old school, I’m from the school that burnt down before they built the old school. But those two guys are old school and when they get in the ring they’re not playing. They’re going for it and I love that.”
“I guarantee the talent was glued to the set somewhere going, ‘Oh my god,’ because there’s just no way you can compete with that. When you’re watching the best, you’re watching the best.”
The match with Danielson received much acclaim, with wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer awarding it 4¼ stars in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dax Harwood ultimately lost the encounter with Danielson but put in an exceptional singles performance for a wrestler best known for tag team wrestling.
Bryan Danielson is just one of Dax Harwood’s singles opponents this year. In 2022, Harwood has also gone toe-to-toe with the likes of “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Jay Lethal and even his own partner Cash Wheeler in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
