Jake Roberts knows star power when he sees it and for him, it starts with a man he has strong ties with.
A recent episode of “The Snake Pit” had Roberts reflecting back on AEW Double Or Nothing 2020 and the “Master Of The DDT” took some time to put over his “client” in Lance Archer. He was asked as to why the former IWGP United States Champions hasn’t secured the AEW World Championship yet.
“I don’t know why they haven’t jumped on that pony and let him run. It’s just what they’ve got in mind, man. He’s certainly capable of doing anything and everything. No doubt about that. I don’t know. I don’t know if they will. It’s not my place to stay.”
Jake Roberts & Lance Archer’s AEW History
Archer ended up making his AEW debut with Jake Roberts right at the start of the global pandemic on the March 11, 2020 episode of “AEW Dynamite.” Roberts and Archer had some amazing vignettes to promote their presence in the company as Archer was shown destroying wrestlers in a makeshift wrestling ring in the middle of the wilderness.
Archer was away from AEW doing work in New Japan Pro-Wrestling for the final quarter of 2022, but now “The Murderhawk Monster” came back in February with a new look. Despite that, Archer has not been used on AEW programming recently. Earlier this year during an interview with Busted Open Radio, Archer did make clear he’d like to continue his alliance with Roberts.
“I don’t think that there was ever a point where Jake and I grew apart. It was just situations – his health and the direction I was going. So I think it’s very possible that he and I can be back together, part of that rebuilding.”
