WWE is wasting no time in capitalising on the potential acquisition of Jade Cargill from AEW.
Following her final match in AEW on the September 15th edition of Rampage, where she fell short of recapturing the TBS Championship from Kris Statlander, it appears that Jade Cargill’s time with the company has come to an end. Reports have been circulating that Cargill is destined to join WWE, and it appears that WWE is already making creative plans for her.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has started to develop creative ideas for Cargill.
They’ve already started on creative for her. I heard that yesterday when I was asking around about ‘Is she locked in?’ And she wasn’t locked in but they’d been talking about her a lot. This isn’t some minor thing, this is a big thing to them and she’ll get a full-blown push because of the money it takes to get her, you have to give her a chance to get over.
Not only that but she is said to be making a significantly higher salary compared to most newcomers to the company.
They’re not paying what they would pay a normal person to start there. It’s not like it’s Charlotte Flair money or anything like that or Becky Lynch money but for a newcomer to the company, it’s much higher than they usually go.
Will Jade Cargill Be Going To NXT?
While there is speculation about whether Jade Cargill will start on the NXT roster, Meltzer believes that any time spent in NXT will likely be short-term due to the expense of bringing her in.
They could put her in NXT for a little while before bringing her to the main roster. In a sense that would make sense but you have to justify the money. She is signed to a main roster deal, she’s not going in there for 60 grand a year. Again I could see them putting her in NXT for a short period of time but my impression is the creative they were talking about was not NXT creative so they have plans for her.
It is expected that Cargill will soon begin training at the WWE Performance Center, indicating that her AEW contract has already expired. This suggests that the transition to WWE is imminent for the talented wrestler.
