‘Smart’ Mark Sterling lived up to his name on AEW Dynamite as he seemingly won the race to become manager of top AEW prospect Jade Cargill.
In recent weeks the hugely impressive Cargill has been top of the list of seemingly every manager in AEW’s in potential new recruits. In a wrestling recruiting drive not seen since Bam Bam Bigelow acquired the services of Sir Oliver Humperdink in 1987 ‘The Battle For Cargill’ had seen the likes of Vickie Guerrero and Matt Hardy pitch for her to join their teams.
One other person entered the fray recently as Mark Sterling interrupted Cargill’s interviews on a number of occasions to make his own play for the chiselled star. Sterling will be a familiar face to longtime AEW fans as he appeared as the legal counsel to MJF during his feud with Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. Sterling even had to compete in a match against Moxley after the champion outsmarted Sterling and Friedman in regards to the title match contract. Unsurprisingly Sterling’s performance against Moxley failed to live up to his name as he was picked apart by the ‘Wild Thing’ in five minutes.
In reality, Mark Sterling is a long-time independent wrestler coming through the ranks of the Create-A-Pro Wrestling Academy. Sterling is currently co-holder of the Create-A-Pro Tag Team Championship alongside IMPACT Wrestling star Brian Myers.

Cargill made her in-ring AEW debut on the 3rd of March ‘Crossroads’ edition of AEW Dynamite. She teamed with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Since then Jade Cargill has competed in a handful of matches, most recently defeating KiLynn King with Sterling by her side on AEW Dynamite.
