Conflicting Reports Concerning WWE Star Jade Cargill's Injury; Potential

The nature of Jade Cargill’s status looks to be undetermined as the mystery of how legitimate her injury is continues.

The Women’s Tag Team Champion was attacked backstage during the November 22nd broadcast of SmackDown. With no footage of the attack itself, the person responsible remains unknown. Following the attack, WWE provided an update on Cargill’s condition, noting that the SmackDown star had suffered multiple injuries from the attack. Given that the show took place so close to WarGames, which Cargill was originally set to compete in, fans were concerned that a legitimate injury had occurred.

In a further update from Dave Meltzer, it was noted that Jade Cargill had indeed suffered an injury and was expected to be out for a number of months. However, in a further update from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, reports concerning Cargill’s injury are said to be “100% incorrect.” Johnson reiterates that the attack and lengthy list of injuries were all part of a storyline and Cargill is not injured. There is no explanation as to why Cargill has been removed from the upcoming WarGames match at Survivor Series.

There has also been no update on Cargill and Bianca Belair’s reign as Women’s Tag Team Champions following the attack.

Multiple Versions Of Events For Jade Cargill Injury

A follow-up report on Cargill’s injury was provided by Meltzer in the latest version of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer is reporting that Cargill is injured and that no one knows the nature of the specifics or severity. Meltzer also notes that there is another theory at play, which is that a “political backstage issue” is present and was covered by the injury:

We were told that Cargill is expected out of action for three months, or possibly longer. We’ve gotten three different versions of the story from those in WWE. One was that, as is usually the case with WWE parking lot attacks, that it’s a storyline cover for a real injury. However, this one has been kept secretive.

One person in WWE mentioned to us that it seems like nobody, including her friends, knows what the injury actually is or why it happened. Another higher-up said 100 percent that she is injured and the stories denying it are false.

Another version is that the injury was created to cover for a political backstage issue. For this story to be accurate, the Cargill & Belair tag team would have to be broken up to give credence to that one. If the team is put back together, that would refute that story, but if it isn’t, that would lend credence to that aspect of it.

Either way, Cargill & Belair will obviously have to give up their women’s tag titles so one would expect some form of a tournament, which has yet to be announced.
