A backstage altercation nearly broke out between WWE star Shayna Baszler and Jade Cargill before senior management stepped in to diffuse the situation, according to a new report.
Dave Meltzer revealed in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cargill, the former AEW TBS Champion, had upset multiple members of the Raw women’s roster. Tensions reportedly escalated to the point where Baszler was prepared for a physical confrontation.
“There was a confrontation that took place a few months ago before the Cargill injury involving Cargill and Baszler. It’s been confirmed by a half dozen people that it happened, but nobody went into details past Cargill had rubbed enough people in the Raw women’s division the wrong way and Baszler was wanting to fight her until management found out and calmed the situation down.”
The incident is believed to have occurred during a period when Baszler and her tag team partner Zoey Stark were competing against Bianca Belair and Cargill in televised matches. While specifics remain unclear, Meltzer noted that tensions arose both inside and outside the ring.
“I don’t know what in particular happened other than it wasn’t just one thing, and the belief is that some of this stemmed from inside the ring in those matches and some didn’t.”
Interestingly, an unnamed WWE star suggested that the situation on the SmackDown side of the roster may have been even more volatile than on Raw. Although the details remain undisclosed, the report highlights the challenges Cargill has faced in integrating into WWE since her high-profile signing.
