Jacob Fatu Reveals The WWE And AEW Offers That Came Too Late

By Matt Tennant. Published 7th January 2021.

MLW World Heavyweight Champion, Jacob Fatu, has spoken out about the offers he received from both WWE and AEW after signing his contract with Major League Wrestling.

Making his MLW debut as part of the team, Warbeast, alongside Almighty Sheik at Superfight on February 2, 2019, Jacob Fatu soon turned heads with his impressive displays of power mixed with the agility of a cruiserweight.

Three months later, he formed the fearsome Contra Unit with Josef Samael, Simon Gotch, Ikuro Kwon and Mads Krueger and on July 7, 2019, cemented his meteoric rise to the top of the wrestling mountain when he pinned ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor to capture the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at the company’s Kings of Coliseum event.

Now, one of the fastest rising stars in the modern era of professional wrestling has sat down with Armbar Interview to talk about the calls he received from World Wrestling Entertainment and All Elite Wrestling upon his signing with Major League Wrestling:

“I had a tryout with WWE. That’s how I met Eddie Kingston. Eddie Kingston, Ruby Riott, Shayna Baszler, Su Yung, Will Hobbs, Royce Isaacs. That was a hell of a class. AEW had tapped in. They came out of nowhere. They came out of nowhere. Jungle Boy actually gave me a call and said, ‘[AEW] is trying to get in touch with you.’ They ended up taking care of him and he was one of the first people that signed, which was doped. William Regal had called the next day and it was too late.”

Jacob Fatu is a much protected entity in professional wrestling. Though many companies are seeking his signature, they will have to wait in order to negotiate with the star as he signed a multi-year extension with MLW in July 2020.

Though Fatu is not scheduled to compete at the 2021 MLW Kings of Coliseum at time of writing, his last defence of his coveted gold was against Davey Boy Smith Jr. on the November 18, 2020, edition of MLW Fusion.
