Jack Perry fired a shot at his former AEW colleague CM Punk during NJPW Windy City Riot.
Perry and Punk are legitimate enemies following their infamous feud about using real broken glass on AEW television.
During their time as All Elite Wrestling co-workers Perry wanted to use a car windshield as part of an angle and was told no by multiple authority figures including Punk. This denial resulted in friction between the two and all came to a head at All In at Wembley Stadium.
Toward the end of Perry’s match against Hook, Perry slammed his opponent through the front window of a limo and addressed the camera directly saying:
“you know what this is right here? Real glass. Go cry me a river.”
The direct shot at Punk didn’t bode well for the young star, who was confronted by the recipient backstage, punched and then choked before they were broken up. The altercation, which left President Tony Khan fearing for his life, saw Punk fired and Perry suspended.
Following the incident Punk made an epic comeback to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames in Chicago and Perry made his NJPW debut seemingly severing ties with AEW.
Despite being in separate companies the boys remained linked and became the talk of the wrestling town.
On April 2nd, 2024, Punk appeared on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. In the interview, Punk was asked about the backstage confrontation with Jack Perry at All In at Wembley Stadium, which ultimately got him fired.
The fallout from the explosive interview saw Tony Khan air CCTV footage of the altercation between Punk and Perry in a move that has been heavily criticised throughout the industry.
In recent news, Jack Perry was set on fire at AEW Double or Nothing.
