Jack Evans’ AEW Contract Will Not Be Renewed

The Hybrid2’s Jack Evans announced that his time with AEW will be coming to an end when his contract ends.

Jack Evans and his tag team partner Angelico were among the early roster members to be announced when AEW began acquiring talent in 2019. Known in the promotion as The Hybrid2, the team is known for its high flying style and impressive acrobatics and signed with AEW in May of 2019.

Today, Jack Evans took to social media to announce that his AEW contract was expiring at the end of April, and that the company elected not to re-sign him.

“My time with #AEW has been a fun and enjoyable but it has come to an end as I will not be re-signed when my contract ends at the end of April. I’d like to thank everyone at AEW and the AEW fans for the opportunity.”

In a response to a conversation in the replies to the tweet, Jack Evans said that AEW should be commended for sticking through the entire contract of its contracted performers even if they elect not to re-sign everyone.

“I actually think that is something #AEW should be put over for. They do keep you for the full length of the contract.”

Evans’ partner Angelico, however, recently made his return from injury in matches on AEW Dark and Dark Elevation.

In December 2021, Jack Evans put out a plea on social media that he was being extorted by Mexican police while working for AAA in Mexico City, and he later filed a complaint against the police.

Jack Evans began his career in 2000, appearing in MLW before signing with Ring of Honor in 2003. Evans later appeared in AAA before featuring on Lucha Underground as Aero Star.

During his time with AAA, Evans won the Cruiserweight Championship once, while also winning the World Tag Team Championship on four occasions.

The former Dragon Gate star signed with AEW in May 2019, reforming the Los Güeros del Cielo team alongside Angélico. The pair now known as Hybrid2 immediately entered into a clash with Best Friends. As a singles star, Evans squared off against Kenny Omega that November for the AAA Mega Championship but was unsuccessful.

Jack Evans’ last match in AEW took place on the March 1st, 2022 episode of AEW Dark, where he lost to Dante Martin.
