British television network ITV are reportedly working on a special dedicated to WWE Hall of Famer and former World Champion Eddie Guerrero.
According to a new report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter ITV are working on an Eddie Guerrero special.
ITV has a long history related to professional wrestling having broadcast various iterations of British wrestling for more than 30 years.
World of Sport later returned to the channel in 2018, after being absent since 1988. The network is also currently the UK home of AEW.
Eddie Guerrero began his career in the mid-1980’s in Mexico before passing through New Japan and ECW before signing a permanent deal with WCW in 1995. During this period Guerrero became part of the company’s famed Cruiserweight division locking horns with the likes of Dean Malenko, Ultimo Dragon and Rey Mysterio.
Guerrero’s match with Rey Mysterio at Halloween Havoc is especially fondly remembered, with fans still holding the clash in high esteem more than two decades later.
During his time in WCW Latino Heat won the Cruiserweight Championship twice, and the United States Title once.
After becoming disillusioned with life in the Atlanta promotion, Guerrero moved to WWE in early 2000 debuting alongside Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. The star became a mainstay of the European and Intercontinental Title picture throughout 2000, famously teaming with Chyna.
However, Guerrero was released by WWE in late 2001 after being arrested for drink driving, it also came to light that the second generation star had developed an addiction to pain medication.
After conquering his demons Eddie Guerrero returned to WWE in April 2002. What followed was a hugely successful run on SmackDown culminating in his sole WWE Championship win at No Way Out in 2004.
Guerrero’s life was tragically cut short only a year and a half later when he passed away on November 13th 2005.
