“It’s P*ssing Me Off”: Joe Hendry Addresses Absence From Major Wrestling Event

Joe Hendry has addressed his notable absence from a prominent wrestling show.

Along with his skills in the professional wrestling world, Hendry also has a number of accolades to his name outside of the squared circle including a black belt in Judo and is a former British Champion in freestyle and Greco wrestling, which led to the TNA star representing Scotland in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Looking to combine the two worlds, the TNA star put out a post on social media shortly before WrestleMania 40 to put himself forward for a future Bloodsport show, tagging Josh Barnett in the process. However, despite the unique event hosting a follow-up show in Japan and will also host the next iteration in Brooklyn in late July, Hendry is yet to make his Bloodsport debut.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful about his interest in competing in Bloodsport, Hendry confirmed that it is something he would love to do and has a lot of respect for Barnett:

“100%. I’ve put it out publicly. At this point, I feel I have to go and genuinely…I don’t want to say this but it’s p*ssing me off. Josh Barnett, it’s p*ssing me off that I’m not on Bloodsport. I have to do Bloodsport. I was genuinely tempted to go and learn catch wrestling and compete. I couldn’t do it now, but there was a time where I thought, I really want to do Bloodsport. I think I could have so much fun with it.

I could surprise people. I can bring something to the table business wise. I think people would be shocked and enjoy the match. I have a lot of respect for Josh and what he’s done for the sport of professional wrestling. That’s how he approaches it. He approaches it as a sport. I would very much enjoy it. You got the headline. I’ve already said it. It pisses me off that I haven’t done Bloodsport.”

Bloodsport recently confirmed a match for the Brooklyn event that will see WWE star Shayna Baszler in action.

Joe Hendry Returns To NXT

While Bloodsport fans are still awaiting the arrival of Hendry, WWE fans recently saw the return of Joe Hendry on the July 9th episode of NXT, which saw the TNA star team with Trick Williams to defeat Shawn Spears and new NXT Champion Ethan Page.

In recent news, TNA World Champion Moose compared Joe Hendry to John Cena.

In other Bloodsport news, another WWE star has been announced as a competitor.

Joe Hendry spoke exclusively with Inside The Ropes Magazine for Issue 47, which goes on sale July 25th and can be pre-ordered here.
