AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Jon Moxley, has opened up about his time travelling with his Shield brothers Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns during his stint in WWE.
Making their debut at the 2012 Survivor Series, the trio crashed the main event of the show which saw C.M Punk defend the WWE Championship against Ryback and John Cena and decimated both challengers, allowing Punk to retain his strap.
An undefeated streak followed in which they were the most must see entity in the company before the trio disbanded with the shocking turn of Seth Rollins. After that, the triple threat embarked on singles runs and all eventually became WWE Champion, capturing many other accolades along the way.
In 2019, Moxley who wrestled as Dean Ambrose, decided that his time in the company was over. Unhappy with his booking and WWE creative to name only a few gripes, the star departed for All Elite Wrestling where he currently sits atop of the mountain.
Now, Moxley has sat down with wife Rene Paquette on her Oral Sessions Podcast to talk about his time with The Shield and travelling with Rollins and Reigns.
“Those first couple of years, me and The Shield were on the road every week for two years straight – be home for 36 hours. I wouldn’t even go home. I would just go to the next town because of going to [my home in] Vegas and turning right back around. I didn’t mind. It was an adventure back then. I was having a great time.”
The Shield was widely regarded as the best days of Dean Ambrose in WWE, with his time as WWE Champion and feud with AJ Styles coming a close second. It’s heartening to see that he doesn’t begrudge his whole time with WWE.
Currently, Jon Moxley is slated to defend the AEW World Heavyweight Championship against Kenny Omega on December 2, in arguably the biggest television bout the promotion have ever promoted.
Moxley and Paquette recently announced that they are expecting their first child.
