“It Doesn’t Matter Who’s On Top”- GUNTHER On Changes In WWE Management

GUNTHER has spoken out about the changes to the WWE management structure, appearing grateful for his current run on the main roster either way.

WWE has undergone a number of changes to its behind the scenes team as of late, with the removal of Vince McMahon from the helm of the company. Creative-wise, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque is now in charge, and already he’s been praised for turning the WWE product around. For GUNTHER, though, it doesn’t matter who he has to answer to.

Speaking exclusively to Inside The Ropes’ own Kenny McIntosh ahead of WWE Clash At The Castle, the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion explained why he believes he and Ludwig Kaiser would have succeeded on the main roster either way:

“Obviously, like I said, we worked with him [Triple H] for a few years already so we know what he wants, kind of understand his vision, but I don’t know. I feel confident enough for both of us that it doesn’t really matter who’s on top there. I think we would have been fine anyway. That’s how I feel about it. I will never put my own success in the hand of one person or something like that, it’s on me or on us to make us valuable enough that it doesn’t matter who sits there.

That’s how I approached it the whole time but nevertheless, I’m happy that we got to work with Vince a little bit, he’s one of the…maybe the most legendary wrestling promoter there will ever be. But also very excited to work with Triple H now. In general, it’s crazy times in wrestling right now, a lot of big things happening and yeah, happy to be in the business at that time.”

Ludwig Kaiser, GUNTHER’s long-time partner from both WWE and the independent circuit, chimed in, reiterating how historic the past few months have been for professional wrestling, while understanding the vision Triple H has for the company moving forward:

“Well, the great thing about Triple H is that he always had a vision, he’s a big visionary, he knows where he wants to go. From the very first day, we were in the front line and going through a brick wall for the man because we share the vision, we know what he wants.I’m very excited for the next couple of years. The last [few] months were wrestling history. People are going to talk about that in like 50 years from now, so it is incredible to be a part of that, and I can’t wait for what the future holds for us.”

GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser joined the main roster this past April, debuting on Friday Night SmackDown. The former now stands as the Intercontinental Champion in his first reign after dethroning Ricochet in June, with Sheamus standing across the ring from him at Clash At The Castle.

Although ‘The Ring General’ believes he would have thrived on the main roster regardless of who was in charge, it was reported that he was set for a burial prior to Vince McMahon’s departure from the promotion. Now, GUNTHER’s match vs. ‘The Celtic Warrior’ is one of the most anticipated matches of the weekend.
