Israel Adesanya Comments On Signing With WWE

Israel Adesanya

UFC star Israel Adesanya has recently discussed the possibility of making the switch from MMA to the wacky world of WWE.

UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya added to his legacy at UFC 276 on the 2nd of July as he picked up a victory over Jared Cannonier, the 23rd of Adesanya’s pro-fighting career.

Adesanya took inspiration from WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker for his entrance, coming out to the Deadman’s iconic theme song complete with a classic wide-brimmed hat and even an urn to cap off the look.

Perhaps Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Vince McMahon who were all in attendance at the event were all taking note of Adesanya’s obvious eye for showmanship.

Speaking to BT Sport, Israel Adesanya said a career in WWE is something he can see for himself later in his career:

“Definitely, that is something I’ll try my hand at later on, just for fun. I’m not saying it’s going to be a full-time job, but I’m definitely going to jump in the WWE or something along that line just for the entertainment factor. Because I grew up jumping off the couch, broke my arm, shooting stars, yeah.”

Famous examples of MMA stars crossing over into the world of wrestling include Dan ‘The Beast’ Severn, Ken Shamrock, and now-former SmackDown Women’s Champion ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey.

Most recently Bellator star Valerie Loureda has made the switch from MMA to WWE, becoming the first Cuban-American woman to sign with the company.
