Following her surprise return at WWE SummerSlam, Io Shirai has confirmed she is now going by a new ring name.
SummerSlam was a night of twists, turns, and returns and one of the biggest surprises was the return of Bayley alongside Dakota Kai and Io Shirai.
Following Bianca Belair’s successful defence of the Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch, Bayley made her way to the ring for the first time in over a year to a huge ovation from the crowd.
However, she was not alone as Dakota Kai, who had been released from the company back in April joined her side followed by Io Shirai, who hasn’t been seen for a number of months.
The three women entered the ring for a stare-down with Belair who was quickly backed up by Lynch. At this, the crowd roared their approval and commentary lost their minds.
Following the show, Shirai took to Twitter to confirm that she has a new ring name to go with her return to WWE TV and will now be known as IYO SKY. The company has also released a new t-shirt referencing the name with a “Lost in the Sky” design.

IYO SKY signed with WWE in 2018, and over the next five years enjoyed a glittering run with WWE’s third brand, winning the NXT Women’s Title, the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles and the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic earlier in 2022.
SKY had been out of action since NXT Stand & Deliver on April 2nd.
