The Interim AEW Women’s World Championship will be on the line during a special Tuesday night edition of AEW Dynamite.
On the October 12th edition of AEW Dynamite Jamie Hayter teamed with Britt Baker to take on Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida. After a back and forth match it was Shida who scored the win for her team after rolling up Baker.
After the match it was announced that Shida will challenge Storm for the Interim Women’s Title on October 18th. Shida is no stranger to championship gold as she currently holds the Regina di WAVE Championship while she is also one half of the International Ribbon Tag Team champions.
The Japanese star also remains the longest reigning AEW Women’s World Champion having held the belt from May 2020 until May 2021.
Toni Storm has held the Interim title since since All Out where she defeated Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Shida. The Interim Championship was created after Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa went down with a back injury. At time of writing it remains unclear when Rosa will return.
It has already been announced that the AEW World Championship will be on the line on the same show as Jon Moxley defends his title against Hangman Adam Page. The show will also feature a promo from MJF, and a sit down interview with Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta, hosted by All Elite Wrestling’s newest acquisition Renee Paquette.
