IMPACT Wrestling’s latest offering Hard To Kill proved to a night of surprises with a former WWE Superstar even getting in on the act.
One of the featured bouts on the card saw Scottish star Joe Hendry put his Digital Media Championship on line against former World Champion Moose. As the match barrelled towards it’s conclusion, Moose believed that he had picked up with win following a low-blow. However, his celebrations were quickly cut short.
Ex-WWE Star Is IMPACT Wrestling’s New Director Of Authority
The controversy brought out former WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella. Appearing in full WWE gimmick, Marella introduced himself as IMPACT’s new Director of Authority and ordered that the match be restarted. Once the action got going again, Hendry pinned Moose to retain his title.
IMPACT’s parent company filed for the “Santino Marella” trademark back in December after WWE had abandoned it.
Marella is best known for his run in WWE where he captured the Intercontinental title on debut from Umaga in Italy after being picked out of the crowd to compete. The Milan Miracle spent almost a decade as part of the main roster only being released in 2016. However, his final few years with the company were heavily affected by injury. He has since made a number of special appearances on WWE television.
The star had previously appeared with IMPACT as far back as 2017.
In Hard To Kill’s main event Mickie James kept her career alive with victory over Jordynne Grace. With the win, she not only saved her career but won the IMPACT Knockouts Title for a fifth time. James had previously declared that if she lost before regaining her title she would retire.
The show also featured an appearance from Frankie Kazarian who revealed that he had left AEW to sign a “long-term” deal with IMPACT Wrestling.
