WWE and Vince McMahon will always be synonymous. The former Chairman has been gone since he and John Laurinaitis were named in a sexual misconduct lawsuit filed by former employee Janel Grant in January 2024, but now there are significant updates on rumors and speculation related to McMahon’s future.
Mr. McMahon and John Laurinaitis have denied the shocking allegations made by Janel Grant from the start. However, Laurinaitis was recently removed from the suit after agreeing to a confidential settlement, and to help Grant’s case against his former boss. The civil suit hangs over WWE as well.
McMahon has had plans for an entertainment company, but Jonathan Coachman recently fueled rumors on McMahon wanting to buy WWE back. As stated on The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo believes McMahon and Endeavor’s Ari Emanuel could’ve cooked up a scheme that would have TKO serving as a “placeholder” of sorts, so that the company could prosper and grow until McMahon could clear his name.
Vince McMahon Wants To Buy WWE Back
Dr. Chris Featherstone received an interesting text message from someone close to Vince McMahon, before he knew of the Jonathan Coachman situation. Speaking to Vince Russo and EC3 on The Wrestling Outlaws, Featherstone revealed a surprising update on the McMahon-WWE matter, and exactly why he’s upset with John Laurinaitis.
“I’m going to give you a little bit of the text message I received. It said that it all depends on the civil case with Grant, he does not want to hurt his baby [WWE], and privately he’s been consulting with ideas and advice, and so that’s a little bit of the detail that I got from… it’s a pretty lengthy text message that I got, as far as Vince wanting WWE. So, he said… another part of the text said [Vince] was upset about Laurinaitis’ betrayal, as far as the civil case and the confidential agreement that was violated go,” Dr. Chris Featherstone said. Featherstone added to the talk of McMahon wanting WWE back, but also pointed to how there’s a big difference in Vince being in the process of buying WWE back, or even in talks, as opposed to just having interest. It was also disclosed how the source made curious remarks on McMahon still having powerful people on his team.
“And there’s a lot more but at the same time it says Vince has a lot of powerful people on his side. This is from someone who has a direct relationship with Vince McMahon. So, at the end of the day, this isn’t something that’s just kind of hearsay, this is something that’s starting to brew up and be pretty serious as far as Vince wanting [WWE] back,” Dr. Chris Featherstone said.
