Injured WWE Star Training At PC, Returning “Sooner Rather Than Later”

Former WWE Star Confident Fans Would Go Wild If His Music Hit at Royal Rumble

One injured WWE star could be returning earlier than anticipated.

On the September 30th episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Ilja Dragunov was out of action for the foreseeable future after suffering an injury. The injury in question took place two days prior at a live event on September 28th, where Dragunov faced off against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

In addition to suffering defeat at the hands of the Ring General, Dragunov suffered a torn meniscus in the match and was expected to be out of action for 6-9 months. Dragunov was said to be in good spirits despite his injury.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Dragunov has been spotted training at the WWE Performance Center and could return “sooner rather than later,” ahead of the original timetable projected. The report indicates that Dragunov is not at the PC for rehabbing his injury as he is training without any knee support and was taking part in traditional training without modification.

WWE Star Ilja Dragunov’s Family Doesn’t Like His Wrestling Style

In an August interview with Metro UK, Dragunov stated that his son had never seen him wrestle prior to WWE’s current European tour, adding that the way his matches go is probably too intense for his 7-year-old to comprehend:

“I think my family hates my wrestling style. Literally, until this day, my son didn’t see one match of me. He’s seven, and he’s going to turn eight this year. So, because I know what I do in that ring, and I know how I do that, it would be a bit too much for a seven year old to understand. He’s going to need a bit more time until we get to that point.”
