Injured WWE Star Hopeful For Return At Royal Rumble

Injured WWE Star Hopeful For Return At Royal Rumble

A top WWE star is hoping that they can be fully recovered in time for the Royal Rumble.

In late 2023, Rey Mysterio was working through multiple matches with a knee injury, including the match at Crown Jewel where he dropped the United States Championship to Logan Paul.

Requiring surgery, the Hall of Famer was written off of TV after being betrayed by Santos Escobar. Undergoing the operation in mid-November, a follow-up report stated that Rey Mysterio should be expected to return after 6 to 8 weeks. With the rough return window being around mid-January, a surprise Rumble entry appears to be on target. According to the former World Champion, this is the intended plan.

Speaking on Bakers Bantering, Mysterio gave the update that he is working hard on his recovery and has the upcoming Premium Live Event as his target:

“I am really working hard on my physical therapy. I just had knee surgery, thanks to Santos Escobar — and his time will come eventually. And I do hope that I can return for the Rumble, if not shortly after that. But I am working very hard to make my return as soon as possible.”

In a separate interview, Rey Mysterio detailed the exact nature of his current injury.

More Surprises Rumoured For The 2024 WWE Royal Rumble

According to a recent report, Mysterio is not the only name that could be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match. Along with another star who is out injured, another name is expected to return to WWE and be a part of the Royal Rumble match.

At the time of writing, 5 Superstars have been confirmed for the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
