After months of injury, an AEW star has made her in-ring return at last night’s tapings!
Following the on-screen returns of Bryan Danielson, Jungle Boy and most recently CM Punk at last night’s Dynamite, as well as the rumored upcoming return of Kenny Omega for the trios championship tournament, another AEW star has made her in-ring return at last night’s event.
Penelope Ford defeated Heather Reckless on last night’s AEW Dark: Elevation tapings (to be aired on August 15), returning from a seven-month hiatus.
Tony Khan confirmed Ford’s injury on social media prior to an episode of Rampage in early July.
“Not at all, total opposite in fact; she’s a great wrestler, and I can’t wait until she’s medically cleared to come back. She’s been in some classic @AEW matches, and hopefully she’ll be in many more!”
Ford’s latest televised match was on February 1st, defeating Angelica Risk on Dark. On December 31, Ford was part of a critically acclaimed tag team Street Fight alongside The Bunny and against Tay Conti & Anna Jay.
In that match there was suplex through two chairs, a super-plex onto a pile of thumb tacks, a piledriver from the ring apron through a table before the madness ended with Anna Jay wrapping barbed wire around her arm to lock in the Queen Slayer on The Bunny. Unsurprisingly, throughout the carnage, there was a significant amount of bloodshed, with The Bunny and Tay Conti, in particular, both ending with the proverbial crimson mask.
When WWE seemed to launch criticism against the match, many of the performers involved responded on social media.
