Indi Hartwell has admitted being forced to vacate the NXT Women’s Championship earlier this year was “bittersweet” for her.
The former member of The Way was recently interviewed by Australian radio duo Ned & Josh following the news that WWE Elimination Chamber will take place in Perth, Australia in 2024. Hartwell was asked about being drafted to the WWE main roster in May and if she felt it was the next logical step in her career.
Hartwell replied that the move ultimately worked out as she was injured but it was bittersweet to have to give up her newly-won NXT Women’s Championship. Ultimately, however, she felt ready for the move.
“Yeah, like you said, it’s just the next logical step and at the time I was injured, so it just worked out that way. It was obviously very unfortunate to get injured, but then later that week was when I got drafted to Raw. So it was bittersweet, I just won the title, I had to give it up. But I knew that it was like the next logical step and I’m ready to level up on it.”
The 27-year-old was asked if she felt reluctant about the move after being a part of the black and gold brand for so long. Indi admitted that there was some fear in moving to the main roster and she felt very comfortable and appreciative of the NXT fans.
“Of course, it is scary going. It’s like a whole new huge world and I was really comfortable at NXT. I was really comfortable in front of that crowd that came to see us every week in the same arena, those fans are so appreciative. I’m so appreciative to those fans, because they gave up their time every week to come and see us. So yeah, it was awesome.”
What Has Indi Hartwell Done On The Main Roster So Far?
Since joining the Raw roster as part of the 2023 WWE Draft, Indi Hartwell has appeared sporadically – primarily alongside her former ally in The Way Candice LeRae.
Hartwell returned to the ring from injury in July and has since competed in five matches across Raw and Main Event. The former NXT Women’s Champion has a 2-3 win/loss record on the main roster, most recently getting a win over Kayden Carter on the September 25th edition of Main Event.
