At long last, NXT’s favorite couple are back together… or were, before Dexter Lumis was forced to say goodbye for now.
Throughout 2021, the romance between Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis was a highlight of NXT television. Their wedding capped off the first official episode of NXT 2.0, and it was hoped that their love would go the distance. However, Lumis was one of ten NXT talents released from WWE on April 29th alongside Persia Pirotta and Dakota Kai.
Fast forward to the August 8th episode of Monday Night Raw, where Dexter Lumis made a shocking appearance as AJ Styles was celebrating his victory over The Miz. The August 15th episode saw Dexter once again taken down by security during the United States Championship bout between AJ Styles and Bobby Lashley. While Indi Hartwell referenced Lumisβ return on social media, fans of the couple anxiously awaited a reference to their love on NXT television.
Last week, InDex fans got their wish when Indi received a letter that seemed to be from her estranged husband – but the moment was ruined when Blair Davenport made a surprise appearance and ripped it up. This week, Hartwell and Davenport went one on one in the ring, and unfortunately for Mrs. Lumis, Davenport was successful in her NXT 2.0 in-ring debut.
Later in the episode, Indi Hartwell took to the microphone to address her future, lamenting the fact that she’s been losing so many matches and hasn’t been able to gain any momentum. The mood in the arena shifted quickly, however, when a familiar figure appeared on the ramp. After Hartwell looked in disbelief that her husband had returned, the couple crawled toward one another in the ring before embracing and sharing a kiss.

Just when it seemed like love had finally conquered all, however, Dexter Lumis handed his wife another note, before kissing her one more time and exiting the building to be handcuffed by officers of the law. This is no doubt in response to the events of last night’s Raw, when Lumis kidnapped The Miz during a tag team match.
When Indi looked at the note, it read as follows:
“Goodbye Indi (for now…)
I β€ you forever”
A roller coaster of #InDex emotions… πππ’π

Elsewhere on NXT 2.0, it was determined that multiple title unification matches will take place at Worlds Collide on September 4th. Bron Breakker will take on Tyler Bate to unify the NXT and NXT UK Championships, while Meiko Satomura, Mandy Rose, and Blair Davenport will compete in a triple threat match to crown an Undisputed NXT Women’s Champion.
