Inaugural Continental Crown Champion Decided At AEW Worlds End

Jon Moxley chokes out Eddie Kingston in AEW

At Worlds End, Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston battled it out in the Continental Classic Final.

After six grueling matches over the course of a month, Moxley and Kingston emerged victorious from the league section of the Continental Classic. This set the pair on a collision course from Worlds End to crown both the winner of the tournament and the man who would hold the ROH, NJPW STRONG, and Continental Championships.

The pair fought tooth and nail in front of the Long Island crowd both in and out of the ring. Things came to a head when they began headbutting each other in the middle of the ring, this escalated into a strike exchange that Kingston ended with a brutal Spinning Backfist to put Moxley away and claim the prize.

After the match, Kingston stood tall with his STRONG and ROH Titles before holding the Continental Championship high in the air and being named the modern Triple Crown Champion.

Eddie Kingston Happy Some AEW Stars Left Out Of AEW Continental Classic

Ahead of the final, Eddie Kingston spoke of his happiness that certain stars weren’t part of the Continental Classic. During an interview with the Battleground podcast, the star joked that he was relieved he didn’t have to face the likes of Will Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita, not least because Takeshita already “beat the s**t” out of him in their last encounter.

Kingston’s path to the final was no less arduous because of Takeshita and Hobbs’ absence though, as the star had to beat every member of the Blackpool Combat Club on his way to victory.
