Several WWE Superstars who have not been seen in months are reportedly due back on screen for the company in time for WrestleMania 38.
The Road To WrestleMania began in earnest at the Royal Rumble which saw the surprise return of ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey to WWE for the first time since she lost in the main event of WrestleMania 35 to Becky Lynch.
On SmackDown, former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg made his presence felt as he challenged Roman Reigns to match for that title at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia.
Now Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a few more faces could be set to return to WWE television ahead of WrestleMania in Dallas. According to the report, the women’s division of WWE could be severely bolstered by some returning talents:
“As far as Bayley and Asuka go, both are expected back over the next few months. Both are targeted to be ready for WrestleMania. Also likely back soon is Lacey Evans, who had been training for her return. Evans, 31, gave birth to her second child in October, which was three-and-a-half months ago so returning this week would have been pushing it.”
Bayley was pulled from a SmackDown Women’s Title match at Money In The Bank in July after suffering a torn ACL. It was reported at the time that The Role Model would be out of action for around nine months as she recovered.
Former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka did make it to Money In The Bank where she competed in the women’s ladder match but has not been seen in WWE since. The Empress Of Tomorrow had been rumoured to return at the Royal Rumble but reports stated that Asuka was still not “physically ready” to be back in the ring
Lacey Evans was reportedly in line for a bout with Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 37 as part of a storyline that also involved The Nature Boy Ric Flair. However, those plans were abandoned when Evans announced her pregnancy. The Sassy Southern Belle has taken to social media recently to hint that her return to the ring is imminent.
