CM Punk has said never say never regarding a potential WWE storyline.
Despite being a part of the company once again for more than 6 months, Punk has not exactly made many friends onscreen with Drew McIntyre making it his mission to end Punk once and for all and Seth Rollins also having unfinished business with the former World Champion.
While fans mainly associate the majority of Punk’s best work as a solo performer, the Chicago native has also formed alliances in the past as part of The New Nexus and The Straight Edge Society. Although Punk still looks to be a solo performer for the foreseeable future, he is not categorically against another run as part of a group.
Speaking with Ringside Collectibles, Punk looked back on his time in the Straight Edge Society and how that was a reflection of his own personality:
“That was a special time in my career (leading Straight Edge Society). You always hear people say, like, ‘Oh, my character is me turned up to 11’ and man, was that ever me turned up to 11. The preachy, you take everything that is stereotypical about the straight edge and the whole movement and the subculture and you get to play that as a bad guy on television and that was the time of my life. It was just so fun to be super preachy and trying to weave in a lot of religious tones, trying to force my stuff on other people. It was the ultimate bad guy. It was the time of my life.”
Continuing, Punk added that while he does not see another faction in the pipeline anytime soon, he did tease that anything is possible:
“I’m not gonna say no (to if I’ll lead another faction or not) because you never say never. I don’t see it happening in the foreseeable future, but you never know what’s gonna happen. That’s the cool thing about where we’re at as a company right now. Creatively speaking, this is the most fruitful, creative locker room that I think I’ve ever been in where ideas aren’t ignored and shot down and people are eager to share ideas. So, somebody someday could have a brilliant idea. Something that I have blinders on and can’t see, and I would be receptive to any of the ideas as long as they’re good.”
