Goldberg vs Gunther is getting heated up.
A few days ago, on the June 16th episode of Raw, Goldberg made his long-awaited return. Confronting Gunther, the Hall of Famer challenged him to a World title match on the July 12th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The duo had stored up tension from their last encounter at the 2024 Bad Blood PLE, which finally erupted last week.
Also set to be “Da Man’s” retirement match, the former Universal Champion is now all geared up for his title bout against The Ring General in a month. Sharing extreme animosity, Goldberg recently appeared in a taped interview with Michael Cole on Raw, and got candid about his Austrian rival.
Last year, the 37-year-old star had turned personal when he directly approached the ex-NFL star’s family and made things ugly. Not tolerant of anything toward his family, “Da Man” issued a stern warning tonight to the Imperium leader.
“The disrespect Gunther showed me in Bad Blood, in front of my wife, my son, my fans, my house in Atlanta. I couldn’t let it go. I didn’t know when to let it go. Even if I have one foot in the grave, nobody’s going to talk to me like that and get away with it. So yeah, he embarrassed me infront of my family. And, so, as I am vying for my retirement match and wondering who’s my opponent gonna be? I thought it was quite serendipitous that he stepped up.
Pretty much put himself in that spot, I think it was a logical choice, cause he ain’t going away with it. As long as I am breathing, as long as I can step foot into that ring, I am going to make him pay. Michael, I will beat the f**k out of Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.”

Goldberg Breaks Character To Praise Gunther
I remember meeting him years ago right when he broke in and the guy had a shooting star up his a*s at that point and I knew he was gonna be destined for big things and hey, it’s an honor for me to get in the ring with him.
“It’s an honor to step into a position to be vying for the World Heavyweight Championship at 58 years old. I don’t know of any other ones who’ve retired with a match like that.”
