Becky Lynch is preparing for the fight of her life at WrestleMania 40.
Coming up short at the Royal Rumble, Lynch knew she only had one opportunity left to be in a marquee match at WrestleMania 40. Competing in the Elimination Chamber for the first time ever in Perth, Becky Lynch outlasted 5 other Superstars to triumph inside the structure. Although victorious, Lynch’s prize will not be taken lightly, a match with Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley in Philadelphia.
Discussing the upcoming clash on The Bump, Lynch admitted that the match means everything to hear and is aware of the challenge:
“This is my everything. This is what I fight for. So when I said ‘The Man’ does it all, she does it all. I’m doing this while I’m on the road 52 weeks a year, while I’m propping up the women’s division, while I’ve been making everybody better. So if you think that Rhea Ripley is unbeatable, well, everybody’s unbeatable until they’re beaten, and I’m the one to beat her,”
Lynch continued, stating that Ripley is very talented and it has come naturally to her. However, Lynch believes she has the edge over her opponent as she has been grinding at this for nearly 20 years and her passion is unrivalled:
“This business goes in waves, right, it’s always waves. You’re riding the momentum and then sometimes, it comes down. Sometimes, it crashes down. Then you’re waiting to catch the next one. You’re looking up while you’re in the calm of the sea, and you can see her riding this wave, and you can see everything that’s being thrown at her, and you can see how young she is and how naturally talented she is and the finesse that she possesses in the ring.
You’re watching all of that, and you see how big she is, and you go, ‘Okay, well, I’m a lot smaller than that, and I’m not natural at this. I never was. But I can outwork everyone, and I do outwork everyone.’ So when you’re nearly 20 years in, kind of asking yourself, ‘Am I still the best? Am I as hungry as I was?’ The answer is, ‘Hell yeah. I’m better than ever, and I’m more hungry than ever.’ But when you’re against somebody who has all those natural abilities, you start to question yourself, especially when they didn’t come so naturally to you.
But that’s the thing that I have to remind myself. It was never about being the most athletic or being a natural. It was always about heart, and passion, and work ethic, and what’s never waned. I don’t think anybody can or ever will beat me in that, and that’s the difference. But I need to prove to myself that I’m better than her,”
Becky Lynch Discusses Scrapped Dream Match
