Ilja Dragunov Is Terrifying, There's Something Wrong With Him

Grayson Waller has shared his thoughts on Ilja Dragunov and has admitted that he fears the Mad Dragon.

In a recent interview with WWE Die Woche, Waller shared his thoughts on Dragunov, who has been making waves in the wrestling world following his match with Carmelo Hayes at NXT‘s Great American Bash on July 30th, 2023.

Known as the Mad Dragon, Dragunov is highly regarded for his intense and captivating performances inside the ring. Waller, who previously faced Dragunov in a match in 2022, described the experience as terrifying and intense, suggesting that there might be something unique about Dragunov’s mindset.

Ilja’s terrifying. Ilja is actually terrifying. There’s something wrong with him. I don’t know what it is. There’s something wrong with his brain. I wrestled him last year on NXT, and I spoke to Carmelo Hayes this morning about it. When you get across from Ilja, there’s an energy that you see in his eyes, you see in his movements, that this is a different bloke.

Waller’s personal experience wrestling Dragunov only reinforces the notion of his ferocity and unique approach to wrestling. By describing the encounter as terrifying and intense, Waller provides insight into the psychological and physical toll that facing Dragunov can take on an opponent.

I don’t think anyone goes in and goes, ‘Oh, that was so fun.’ There’s nothing fun about wrestling Ilja Dragunov. I think [Carmelo Hayes] found that out. Everything he does is so intense. Even backstage, you might see him the day of your match, and five hours before the show, he is as intense as he is when he goes out there for the match.

The interview also touched upon Waller’s aspirations for his talk show, The Grayson Waller Effect, with Waller expressing his desire to have the legendary Trish Stratus as a guest on a future episode.

What Is Grayson Waller Doing Next In WWE?

Waller is currently making a name for himself on SmackDown, he recently had a match on the July 28th episode where he lost to Jey Uso. Waller has already rubbed shoulders with top stars in the business, notably coming face-to-face with John Cena at Money in the Bank.

Grayson Waller has also mocked The Rock numerous times on SmackDown. When the Aussie made his debut against Edge at Maddison Square Garden, he was quick to point out the fact The Rock had done the same in 1996. The pair have since traded virtual blows on social media and it appears that the animosity between the two won’t be over soon.
