AEW TNT Champion, Darby Allin, has spoken out about his want to step into the ring against ‘The Icon’ Sting if the star is ready for one more round.
Sting made his return to professional wrestling at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming on December 2, to save both Darby and Cody from a beatdown at the hands of Team Taz. Every since, the legend has aligned himself with both men in their war against the powerful stable.
Now, Allin has sat down with Sportskeeda to orate his desire to battle his saviour and idol in either a normal or cinematic match, stating that he’s ready whenever Sting is when asked if he thinks the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion will lace up his boots again:
“I have no clue. I don’t know what his health’s like. I don’t know what he wants to do, but if he wants to get in the ring with me, I’m ready. If he’s ready, I’m ready. But I actually have no clue if he’s actually going to be ready. Everything’s up in the air.
Like I said, if he’s game, I’m game. I’ve never done a cinematic match, but if you look at my promos, I’m definitely up for the challenge. I guarantee you; I’d give the most crazy cinematic match of all time.”
Darby’s fascination with Sting came during the stars time growing up as a wrestling fan. He went on talk about how he was a fan of the face painted vigilante growing up:
“I was a Sting fan, but I never watched WCW or any real wrestling back in the day. But when I go back and watch it when I was a little older, yeah, Sting was one of those guys that captivated me as a performer. He did a lot of interesting traits in himself that I gravitated towards, big time.”
Darby Allin defeated Cody to capture the AEW TNT Championship at the promotion’s Full Gear event on November 7 and ever since has been plagued by the interest of Team Taz.
