WWE Performance Center recruit Sofia Cromwell was unveiled as Maxxine Dupri last night, the sister of Maximum Male Models’ Max Dupri.
As noted by WWE commentary last Friday, Maxxine Dupri did indeed make her televised WWE debut last night on Friday Night SmackDown, but it wasn’t who fans had initially suspected. Instead, Sofia Cromwell was presented to the WWE Universe.
The real-life Sydney Zmrzel was signed to WWE last year during the SummerSlam tryouts with a background in cheerleading, having cheered for both the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Rams. In WWE, she’d been spotted on NXT 2.0 as an apparent associate of Mr Stone and Von Wagner, calming down Wagner on a recent broadcast.
Prior to her arrival, it had been rumoured that Jinny, an NXT UK star who last wrestled in November, was penned for the role of Maxxine Dupri. As evidenced by her moniker of ‘The Fashionista’, Jinny would have made for the perfect casting but for now, she’ll remain contracted to WWE’s UK developmental brand.
Sofia Cromwell was shown with ma.cé and mån.sôör prior to SmackDown’s main event, promising to debut Maximum Male Models’ beachwear line next week in time for SummerSlam.
Max Dupri, however, was not in attendance. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported prior to SmackDown that Dupri was absent for the blue brand’s taping but plans to debut his sister would go ahead regardless. It’s unclear as to what, exactly, led to this, but the former LA Knight is expected to reemerge with his clients next Friday.
