Fans saw an iconic AEW Championship retire on Dynamite Grand Slam 2024.
The second match of the night witnessed Hook successfully defend his FTW Championship against Roderick Strong of The Undisputed Kingdom. Hook compelled Strong to submit to the Redrum submission move and retained his gold.
After a hard-fought battle, Strong alongside Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett acknowledged Hook’s fight and shook hands with him inside the ring.
However, moments after his victory, Hook joined Tony Schiavone at ringside for a short interview and surrendered his championship. Hook then handed the title belt to his father Tazz before walking out to a cheering crowd. With the FTW belt retiring, Hook’s third title reign came to an end at 31 days.

Tony Khan Once Defended The Prestige Of This AEW Championship
At the All In 2024 media scrum, after a journalist questioned the legitimacy of the FTW Championship and termed it as a joke, fans saw Tony Khan hit back at the reporter and defended the title’s prestige.
It wasn’t a joke or an insult. I brought it in as a really important part of the company, it wasn’t a joke or an insult. Taz didn’t bring it in as an insult at all. He brought it in to represent someone who was the top pushed heel against the strongest booked best wrestler in the world at the time, which is and was Jon Moxley.
Tony Khan did not take the allegations lightly and felt it was his responsibility to clear the air about this misconception.
