“I Would Put Him Against The Fiend In A House Burning Match” – John Cena Sr. On Ending The Career Of Goldberg

Goldberg screaming

John Cena Sr. has revealed his ideas on how the career of Bill Goldberg should end when the time comes for the master of the Jackhammer to hang up his boots.

Speaking with Dan Mirade of Boston Wrestling MWF, the father of the former Doctor of Thuganomics has declared how he would retire the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion by rekindling the storyline with ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt but with an interesting stipulation:

“I would think, if I’m gonna end Goldberg’s career, I would put him in there against The Fiend in a House Burning Match. I’m just using a gimmick. The house burns down and Goldberg’s in it. That takes care of his contract. He’s out, he’s done. I don’t think that [losing to Drew McIntyre at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble] is a way to let a man of his stature, stamina, and professionalism go out. He’s a great guy, he really is.”

While it’s unlikely that WWE would ever consider such a stipulation following the backlash received from the finale of Tables, Ladder and Chairs 2000, it would undoubtedly be an avenue for ‘The Fiend’ to claim back the victory he conceded at Super ShowDown.

At the event, ‘The Fiend’ controversially lost the WWE Universal Championship and went on to a programme with John Cena. Meanwhile, Goldberg defended his title against Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36.

Goldberg’s contract currently permits him to wrestle twice a year, with one of the bouts in 2021 having been against Drew McIntyre with the second rumoured to take place at WrestleMania 37.
