A member of the WWE Hall of Fame would like to see Matt and Jeff Hardy make their return to the company.
The Hardys last returned to the company at WrestleMania 33 to one of the loudest ovations in recent memory. Following a brief run with the company, both would eventually exit as Matt chose to not re-sign in 2020 and Jeff was released in December 2021 following an incident at a non-televised event.
The Hardys would sign with AEW shortly after their respective exits and have appeared sporadically since. However, in a year of contract uncertainty in many of the top promotions, Matt Hardy recently chose to not immediately re-sign with AEW and instead explore other opportunities as a free agent. Jeff Hardy is still under contract and the length of time left on his deal remains unknown as it is assumed that time has been added on due to absences.
Shortly before his contract expired, Matt was spotted at a Raw taping, leading some to speculate that it may lead to an eventual return once again. Discussing the possibility of the legendary tag team making a comeback, Hall of Famer and NXT announcer Booker T is a big fan of the idea.
Discussing the possibility on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T stated that he would like to see the former Tag Team Champions back in the company and to be inducted into the Hall of Fame soon:
“I would love to see him back in WWE,” Booker said. “I’d love to see Jeff back in WWE. I want to see both those guys go into the WWE Hall of Fame. They deserve it. They really do. The body of work those guys put in, the legendary matches those guys had with teams like The Dudleys, I want to see those guys take their rightful place one day, so maybe this is the beginning. Maybe this is the spark. I haven’t seen Jeff on AEW doing anything in quite some time, so he may be a free agent too for all I know.”
“For Matt and Jeff, I think it’s hard to hang the boots up just yet. They’re still like, we got something left in the tank. We’re not ready to just take a back seat. I think Matt and Jeff could have had jobs with WWE, at least the latter regime, they could have had jobs with WWE perhaps forever.”
Matt Hardy Endorses WWE
Still a free agent at the time of writing, Hardy once again fuelled speculation online as he reposted a clip from a recent broadcast of Monday Night Raw. Asked about his current status and why he was promoting WWE, Matt Hardy provided an update on his status in the wrestling world.
