“I Was Trying To Knock His Ass Out” – Steve Austin On Punching Booker T

Booker T & Steve Austin

Former WWE Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin, has revealed that he once legitimarley punched Booker T during a match with the aim to knock him out.

Steve Austin and Booker T have a long and illustrious history both in and out of the ring, with their enmity beginning all the way back in 2001 when Booker T gate-crashed the main event of King of the Ring 2001 – which saw Steve Austin vs. Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho – and put Austin through a table.

Their storyline continued on WWF television and encapsulated the famous supermarket brawl which was said to have caused property damage to the location in which it was filmed, as well as their fractious union in The Alliance where Steve Austin was leader and Booker T WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

However, now they’re put their differences aside – both personal and professional – ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ has sat down with the Hall of Fame Podcast to tell the story of when he punched the former five time WCW World Heavyweight Champion during a match with the intention to knock him out:

“Book hauled off and hit me with that big ass right hand of his, I mean he knocked the trash out of me,. And boy, I’m normally very, very forgiving…when guys start throwing potatoes, but he lit me up so hard, instant rage [came] across me. And I sent a receipt like ASAP. Micro process, here it comes. And I threw it with everything I had.

The problem is, this arm doesn’t straighten out all the way, and he was just back far enough that I couldn’t connect with him. But I was trying to knock his ass out.”

Though the pair have met since in slits and angles on WWE television, their dealings really ended with the disbanding of The Alliance at WWF Survivor Series 2001 when Booker T was dropped down the card and Steve Austin returned to his babyface gimmick until his 2002 departure.
