Steve Austin explained his unfortunate run-in with a barricade at WrestleMania 41.
Stone Cold Steve Austin made two appearances during WrestleMania 41. On April 19th, he appeared alongside Bret Hart as the two celebrated their WrestleMania 13 bout being honored in the WWE Hall of Fame. His April 20th appearance didn’t quite go to plan, however. Before announcing the attendance for the night, Austin entered the arena on an ATV, accidentally crashing into the barricade at ringside and knocking down a fan. Both Austin and WWE President Nick Khan were seen checking on the fan afterward.
Speaking in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Austin explained that the ATV was different to the ones he’s used to driving, and being unfamiliar with the controls led to the unfortunate incident.
“Different throttle set up than what I’m used to. Long story short, just a different throttle system. I’m pretty dang handy on a four-wheeler.”
“It’s Not The Greatest Day At The Office” – Steve Austin
Continuing, Austin admitted he was embarrassed by the blunder, but believes no one was seriously injured.
“I was embarrassed by it. I think everybody is okay. You go out there on the biggest night in wrestling and you end up like that, it’s not the greatest day at the office. You go out there and want to give people the best show that you can and when you fall short of that, it’s not great.”
