Hulk Hogan has given his thoughts on an AEW spot that ended in serious injury.
Whether it’s barbed wire deathmatches or setting Jack Perry on fire, All Elite Wrestling has continually pushed the boundaries in its past 5 years and has got the fans talking one way or another. While some love the chaotic nature of the programming and have embraced the anarchy, others have found the insanity too much and have chosen to not watch any more.
Although the majority of the wildest spots from Double or Nothing 2024 took place in the Anarchy in the Arena main event, earlier in the night the barbed wire cage match between Adam Copeland and Malakai Black also became a topic of discussion after the Hall of Famer dove off the top of the cage and landed feet first. With many immediately concerned for the former TNT Champion’s safety, Adam Copeland gave the unfortunate update a few days later that he had suffered a fractured tibia and would require surgery.
“You Didn’t Need To Do That”: Hulk Hogan On Adam Copeland Cage Dive
Appearing on The Outbound Life, Hogan commented on the AEW match and stated that as Copeland is already over with the fans it was unnecessary:
“I watched Edge [Copeland] jump off the cage the other night. I haven’t talked to him yet, but trained professional. Twlight of his career. Jumps off the top. Please explain that to me. He’s over. Most guys who do that, go up and do it because they are not over enough. Edge was over. To do that, I just don’t get it. I haven’t called him yet. I was going to call him last night, but I fell asleep. I just want to know, ‘Please explain that to me. You’re over like a son of a gun. You didn’t need to do that. You didn’t need to go up there.’
If you’re going to go up there, it doesn’t mean anything, unless you do something better than Mick Foley did. Mick Foley got thrown off the top of the cage and hit the table. If you’re going to beat Mick Foley, you have to get thrown off the top of the cage with no table. I just didn’t get it. It didn’t mean anything because Edge was so over. So over. He didn’t need that.”
H/t to Fightful.
