“I Don’t Know How Many Tables I’ve Gone Through”: Sting Reflects On A Career Of Taking Risks

Sting shed light on his willingness to incorporate high-risk dives into his matches during his career.

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report when being asked about his willingness to perform high-risk manoeuvres in AEW, Sting clarified that taking daring chances with dives and significant manoeuvres has always been a part of his wrestling repertoire. Reflecting on his earlier career, The Icon recounted his history of executing head-first dives out of the ring, involving descents over the top rope onto the floor, chairs, tables, and even human bodies.

In the ’80s and early ’90s, I was doing head-first dives out of the ring. Over the top rope onto the floor, into the chairs, onto the tables, onto human bodies,

He specifically mentioned his experiences with Sid Vicious, narrating the intensity of being press slammed from a considerable height onto tables, a feat he and Sid executed consistently during their performances.

Press slammed by guys like Sid Vicious. You’re like nine feet up in the air when he’s got you up there and dropping you through tables. Sid and I did that every night for weeks. I don’t know how many tables I’ve gone through during my career, even before I started with AEW.

Sting emphasised that his comfort with daring manoeuvres predates his AEW involvement, dispelling the notion that it is a recent development. He humorously addressed the misconception of jumping off balconies while asserting that pushing the limits has been an integral part of his wrestling journey. Despite his age, Sting expressed his unwavering commitment to pushing himself to the limit and delivering captivating performances for wrestling enthusiasts. Moreover, he articulated his aspiration for fans to walk away from AEW Revolution with lasting memories, aiming to create an unforgettable night of wrestling spectacle.

I’m hoping that everybody walks away from Revolution going ‘Wow, what an incredible memory. A night that we will not forget.’ That’s all I want.

During the same interview, Sting commented on Darby Allin’s AEW future.
