Triple H has responded to the recent lawsuit against former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon.
On January 25th, news broke that former WWE employee Janel Grant had filed a new lawsuit against Vince McMahon. The suit contains horrifying allegations of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking by both McMahon and the former Executive Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis.
At the press conference following the Royal Rumble, members of the media questioned WWE Chief Content Officer, Triple H, about the allegations and McMahon’s subsequent resignation from his position as TKO’s Executive Chairman.
Jon Alba of Fightful asked Triple H what he knew of the allegations prior to the lawsuit being filed. The executive told Alba he was going to do “exactly what you expect me to do here” before talking up WWE’s accomplishments of the past week, which included the Raw rights deal with Netflix and The Rock being appointed to the TKO Board of Directors and selling out the Royal Rumble.
“I choose to focus on the positive. And yes, there’s a negative, but I want to focus on [the positives] and keep it to that.”
Triple H Claims Not To Have Read Full Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon
Triple H later admitted to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics that he had not read the contents of the lawsuit, before again trying to move the conversation to more positive news.
“I think Cody [Rhodes] mentioned it, that we all found out in real time when you were. And that’s the truth. I’ll go back to what I said before, this is an amazing week for us and at this point, I don’t even wanna get bogged down with the negatives of it. I just want to focus on the positives and where we’re going.
“I feel like we are in the middle of something that we might not be able to put our finger on now but five, ten years from now we’re going to be saying ‘wow, what a time that was’. I want to focus on that.”
The last question on the subject came from Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer, who asked what was being put in place to make sure people in positions of power can’t take advantage of those under them. According to Triple H, the answer was simply “everything possible.”
“I’ll give you the most generalized answer I can. Everything possible. And that is a very important thing to us, a very important topic to us. It’s as simple as everything possible.”
Triple H isn’t the only WWE executive who would prefer not to address the lawsuit, as Bruce Prichard has claimed he is “not at liberty to discuss” the matter.
